The spring semester portion of the Southern Circuit Tour of Independent Filmmakers, part of Western Carolina University’s Lectures, Concerts and Exhibitions Series, will get under way Thursday, Feb. 18, in the theater of the A.K. Hinds University Center with “Trimpin: The Sound of Invention.”
“The Clown Princes,” beginning at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 31, will feature three short films starring Charles Chaplin, Buster Keaton and Harold Lloyd. The films will be accompanied by the 15-member Paragon Ragtime Orchestra.
Some 300 students from the mountains and piedmont of North Carolina will be judged on their theatrical skills as Western Carolina University hosts a western regional competition of the North Carolina Theatre Conference’s High School Play Festival on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 6-7.
The department of stage and screen at Western Carolina University will present “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” – a commentary on the absurdity of love – at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, Oct. 29-31, and 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, at the Fine and Performing Arts Center on the WCU campus.
