Western’s poster campaign puts fresh face on student recruitment

The university recently mailed about 1,000 personalized posters to public and private high schools in North Carolina and 12 other states. Each poster features an individual student, describes his or her successes at Western, and includes information about the student's major, with a quote and a big, colorful picture of the participating student.

Eggs and exams over easy for Western’s exam-stressed students

Mark Brown, a sophomore from Raleigh, and his friend Robert Boylan, a sophomore from Chapel Hill, were first in line for the Late Night Exam Breakfast at Western's Dodson Cafeteria on Wednesday evening (Dec. 15). Behind them for the next three hours came a hungry crowd of more than 600 exam-stressed students who enjoyed the special meal, served by university administrators, faculty and staff who volunteered to help.

Chancellor to address gathering of educators in Asheville

John W. Bardo, chancellor of Western Carolina University, will provide the keynote address for education professionals who are getting together on Friday, Dec. 17, at the Grove Park Inn in Asheville for the winter meeting of the Region 8 chapter of the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development.
