Some things just never get old. Western Carolina University's men's and women's track and field teams continued their recent dominance at the Southern Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships with the men winning their third consecutive title, while the women won for the third time in the last four years.
It's an exciting time to be at Western Carolina University. As fall temperatures start to take over, the Catamounts' football team continues to heat things up. That joy will be on full display when WCU hosts Furman at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, for its Homecoming game. You can also catch the 'Cats in their home finale at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11 against Mercer. The team is looking for students, faculty, staff, alumni and fans to fill E.J. Whitmire Stadium and keep that excitement going.
Once the location of the campus hangout, The Townhouse, and later to other campus treasures, the string of buildings along Centennial Drive was damaged beyond reasonable repair by a fire in 2013. A mixed-use facility named Noble Hall rises, phoenix-like, from the ashes in these photos.
