Youth swim programs scheduled for weekdays June through August

WCU swim programs are led by Mike Creason, who has more than 40 years of experience as a swimming instructor.

Western Carolina University’s Office of Professional Growth and Enrichment is offering youth swim programs on campus at Reid Gymnasium this summer.

The programs will include classes for three age categories – “shark” for children 6 and up; “fish” for ages 3-5; and “minnow” for children 6 months to 3 years.

The sessions will be held on weekdays only, with no weekends involved.

“Shark” level is $75 per session. The first session will be held June 12-27, and a second session will be offered July 8-23. “Fish” level is $45 per session and sessions are set for June 14-27, July 8-19 and July 22-Aug. 2. “Minnow” level is $45 per session with sessions scheduled for June 14-27, July 8-19 and July 22-Aug. 2.

All swim programs (except aqua fitness classes) are led by Mike Creason, who retired as assistant professor in the Department of Health, Physical Education and Recreation at WCU. He is certified by the American Red Cross to teach infants and children and has been a swimming instructor for more than 40 years.
