Reitz presents research at Women Composers Festival of Hartford

Christina L. Reitz, WCU associate professor of music, presented her research “Baroque Tradition in the Works of Shaw” at the Women Composers Festival of Hartford, which convened at Trinity College in Connecticut on March 28-29.

Reitz’s research focused on the manner in which historical tradition informs the compositional style of Caroline Shaw. An expanded version of Reitz’s paper, including Shaw’s work with Kanye West, will be published as a chapter in the forthcoming second edition of “Women Making Art: Women in the Visual, Literary, and Performing Arts Since 1960,” which is due this fall from the academic publisher Peter Lang Inc.
