University magazine available for pickup at library, Robinson Bldg.

Copies of the latest edition of Western Carolina University Magazine are now available for faculty and staff pickup at two locations on campus – Hunter Library and H.F. Robinson Administration Building.

The Office of Communications and Public Relations is no longer distributing individual copies of the print version of the magazine to faculty and staff in an effort to reduce expenses.

“We are encouraging WCU faculty and staff to read the magazine online at, where, in addition to the same stories that you’ll find in print, you’ll have access to extra online content such as videos, photo galleries and more in-depth articles,” said Bill Studenc, chief communications officer. “But, we realize that some readers prefer the tactile experience of reading a printed publication. As an old newspaper guy, I’m one of those people myself.”

University magazine distribution points are the foyer of Hunter Library and the front desk area of the Office of Communications and Public Relations, located in Suite 420 of H.F. Robinson Building.

The current edition of the magazine includes a tribute to Chancellor David O. Belcher and stories about WCU’s student enrollment trends, the coming of the NC Promise tuition plan, the 20th anniversary of the Honors College, the total solar eclipse that darkened the skies over campus on the first day of the academic year and three successful WCU alumni from the worlds of business, theater and medicine.

The magazine also features a new design, with a higher quality paper, a refreshed masthead and perfect binding – that is, with pages and cover glued together at the spine – as opposed to saddle stitch binding, or stapled pages.
