Western Carolina University faculty and staff are being encouraged to participate in a survey conducted by the University of North Carolina System before its Monday, Feb. 12, deadline.
The data collected will help guide human resource policies at the statewide level and identify challenges at the individual 17 universities and means to address workplace issues. Dimensions examined in the survey include job satisfaction and support, collaboration, respect and appreciation, pride and fairness.
Individual responses are confidential, said Cory Causby, WCU associate vice chancellor for human resources. “The survey takes about 20 minutes to complete and should be done as part of a workday,” he said.
Two open computer lab sessions in Room 406 of the Belk Building are offered for WCU employees who need access to a computer or who may have questions about the survey. They are set for Tuesday, Feb. 6, from 2 to 5 p.m. and Friday, Feb. 9, from 9 a.m. to noon.
The UNC System will publish aggregated survey results for the system as a whole and for each constituent institution. “We need to hear from you,” said Margaret Spellings, UNC System president. “We need your honest feedback about what is working. What can we do to empower you in your job and be more efficient in our work? What can we do to better serve you, as you serve our students and our state? I hope you will be blunt in telling us your views.”
