Organizers of the WHEE Call U campaign are seeking faculty, staff and administrator volunteers to make telephone calls to all new first-year and transfer students at Western Carolina University during the first four weeks of the semester.
“The mission is simple: to ensure that new students have settled into their new homes, feel cared for and know about resources that are provided to support their success,” said Glenda Hensley, director of the Office of Student Transitions. “With record enrollment and more than 2,700 new students to call this fall, lots of volunteers are needed to help accomplish the task this semester.”
Calling time slots have been scheduled in the afternoons from Monday, Sept. 11, through Friday, Sept. 15. Interested faculty, staff and administrators should click on this survey link and select the day and time that fits their individual schedule.
All necessary materials to complete the calling will be provided. Participants will meet in the Office of Admission in the Cordelia Camp Building. “WHEE Call U is an opportunity to talk with colleagues, as well as students,” said Hensley.
