A workshop offered by Western Carolina University’s Office of Continuing and Professional Education is designed to help representatives of nonprofits understand financial statements and tax compliance.
The workshop will be held from 9 a.m. until noon Friday, Nov. 18, at WCU’s instructional site at Biltmore Park Town Square in Asheville.
Participants will hear an overview of a typical 501(c)(3)’s financial essentials that are relevant for board members, managers and directors. They also will learn about a range of tax compliance issues such as the use of financial statements and form 990.
The workshop instructor, Benjamin Harris, earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting at WCU and has more than five years of experience as an accountant for Dixon Hughes Goodman with a focus on tax-exempt organizations.
