Travis Bennett, associate professor of horn in the School of Music at Western Carolina University, will present a recital at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1.
The event will be held in the recital hall of the Coulter Building on the WCU campus. It is free and open to the public.
In addition to Bennett on horn, the performance will include WCU School of Music faculty members Andrew Adams, piano; Lillian Buss Pearson, piano; Ian Jeffress, saxophone; and Brian Seaton, oboe.
The program includes “Villanelle” by Paul Dukas, “Sonata for Horn and Piano” by Samuel Adler, and “Trio for Oboe, Horn and Piano” by Carl Reinecke.
The “Trio for Oboe, Horn and Piano” piece is a major 19th-century chamber music work, with Reinecke much admired by such greats as Mendelssohn, Liszt and Brahms. “Sonata for Horn and Piano” was recorded this past summer by Bennett and Adams for an upcoming album.
