Western Carolina University’s College of Business has been fully accredited ― again ― by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, which is widely regarded as the international benchmark for business school quality.

The reaccreditation was announced Thursday, Feb. 11, by the association. Founded in 1916, it is made up of more than 1,450 educational institutions, businesses and other organizations around the world. As the premier accreditation body for educational institutions offering undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral degrees in business and accounting, AACSB offers an array of services to the business management education industry.

WCU’s College of Business has more than 54 full-time faculty members and offers undergraduate and graduate degrees with more than 17 different specializations including disciplines such as business administration and law, computer information systems, entrepreneurship, hospitality and tourism, and sport management. Courses are offered on campus and in Asheville at Biltmore Park, as well as online.

AACSB accredited“It takes a great deal of commitment and determination to earn and maintain AACSB accreditation,” said Robert D. Reid, the association’s executive vice president and chief accreditation officer. “Business schools must not only meet specific standards of excellence, but their deans, faculty and professional staff must make a commitment to ongoing continuous improvement to ensure that the institution will continue to deliver the highest quality of education to students.”

WCU’s College of Business was included among Princeton Review’s “296 Best” in 2015 and is nationally recognized for commitment in providing students the knowledge and life-long learning skills needed for continued professional and personal development and for assisting students in becoming business leaders and contributing citizens.

“The review recognizes that Western Carolina University’s business programs are innovative, engage students with the profession, and have a demonstrated impact on the state and region,” said Darrell Parker, dean of the college.
