The Western Carolina University Wind Ensemble will present its first concert of the fall semester at the John W. Bardo Fine and Performing Arts Center at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27. It is free and open to the public.
Conducted by Margaret Underwood, visiting assistant professor with the WCU School of Music, the performance will feature works by Carolyn Bremer, Darius Milhaud, Scott McAllister, Morten Lauridsen and Henry Fillmore. Titled “Storytellers,” the concert is a musical story with various pieces sharing the anticipation of a baseball game, the wonder of a miracle, and the opportunity to laugh with pop culture references from the 1990s.
The WCU Wind Ensemble is an auditioned group of musicians performing a challenging repertory that includes premieres of commissioned works. For more information, contact the School of Music at 828-227-7242.
