WCU’s basketball teams have started practice sessions at the Ramsey Regional Activity Center in anticipation of their mid-November season-openers.
The men’s team held its first practice Friday, Oct. 2. The Catamounts return four starters and will open their season at Cincinnati on Friday, Nov. 13. The team will start the home portion of its schedule against the University of North Carolina at Asheville at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 15.
The WCU women’s team officially opened the Stephanie McCormick era with its first practice Sunday, Oct. 4. McCormick, who previously spent two tenures as a WCU assistant coach, took over as head coach last April.
The Catamount women will feature 10 returning players and three newcomers. The team will play an exhibition game against Lees-McRae in the Ramsey Center at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, before officially opening its season at home against Brevard College in the annual Education Day game at noon Friday, Nov. 13.
Fans can get an early look at both teams during Catamount Madness, which begins at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, at the Ramsey Center.
