The instructional staff of Western Carolina University’s summer dulcimer conference will be featured on the traditional Appalachian instruments during a concert at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 23.
Admission is free for the performance at WCU’s John W. Bardo Fine and Performing Arts Center.
The lineup of performers, representing six states, will include national mountain dulcimer champions from 1998, 2001 and 2007. A variety of musical genres will be presented, including Celtic, bluegrass, blues and contemporary.
“This concert in the round featuring the ‘Dulcimer U’ instructional staff is always a highlight of Dulcimer Week at WCU,” said Larry Conger, who co-directs the conference with his wife, Elaine Conger. “Hosting such great talent on one stage at the same time allows the audience to experience the many ‘voices’ of the dulcimer in one magical evening.”
