The wintertime series of old-time and bluegrass music jam sessions sponsored by Western Carolina University’s Mountain Heritage Center will continue Thursday, Jan. 4, with a performance by local bluegrass band the Frogtown Four.
The free concert will begin at 7 p.m. in the Mountain Heritage Center auditorium. Local pickers and singers, and those who just want to listen, are invited to stick around after the show to participate in the center’s regular Thursday night jam session.
The Frogtown Four is composed of residents of Jackson and Macon counties. The group performs regularly at local festivals, and opened the show for acoustic musician Sam Bush at the 2004 pre-Mountain Heritage Day concert.
More jam sessions will be held at the Mountain Heritage Center from 7 to 9 p.m. on the first and third Thursday of each month through March.
WCU’s Mountain Heritage Center is located on the ground floor of H.F. Robinson Administration Building. For more information, contact the center at (828) 227-7129.
