Western North Carolina school teachers can win scholarships to cover the cost of their first graduate-level course in education through Western Carolina University’s “Invest in Teachers Scholarship” program.
Approximately 50 teachers will be chosen to receive the scholarships for the upcoming fall semester. The only expense to scholarship recipients for the first master’s degree course will be $100 and the cost of any required text or supplemental materials. Scholarships are available for resident or distance learning courses.
To qualify, teachers must be starting a new graduate degree program in education, and they must be admitted into WCU’s Graduate School by Monday, Aug. 7.
Scholarship winners will be chosen based on their resumes and an essay of 500 words or less addressing the topic: “Why is graduate education important to you?” All application materials, including the essay and resume, must be received by Aug. 7. Teachers chosen to receive scholarships will be notified by Monday, Aug. 14.
