Students, faculty and staff from across the Western Carolina University community were recognized at the 13th annual Service-Learning Awards program held April 20 in the conference room at Blue Ridge Hall.
Western Carolina University’s Center for Career and Professional Development was awarded a $100,000 grant from the State Employees’ Credit Union foundation board, which will be used to fund the SECU Summer Fellows Internship Program.
Burgin Mackey, a freshman environmental health major at Western Carolina University, has been selected to serve as the post-secondary/collegiate representative for the state association of the Health Occupations Students of America.
Sgt. Jacob Deal of the Western Carolina University Police Department is recipient of the University of North Carolina system’s Officer of the Year Award for Outstanding and Exceptional Service in recognition of his work in campus outreach activities, including those focusing on sexual assault prevention.
