Planet Mercury viewing planned on WCU campus May 9

Enrique Gomez, associate professor of physics and astronomy at Western Carolina University, will host a safe way to view a somewhat rare astronomical event called a transit of Mercury beginning at 11 a.m. Monday, May 9, on the lawn of A.K. Hinds University Center.

WCU’s research events merge into March 30-31 ‘Celebration’

Western Carolina University’s two springtime events that highlight student research, the Undergraduate Expo and Graduate Research Symposium, are being combined this year to create the 2016 Research and Scholarship Celebration that will be held Wednesday, March 30, and Thursday, March 31.

Unruh receives NASP President’s Award

Lori Unruh, coordinator of Western Carolina University’s School Psychology Graduate Program, was recipient of a President’s Award for Exceptional Service to Children and School Psychology during the 2016 annual convention of the National Association for School Psychologists held in New Orleans in mid-February.
