Western Carolina University’s Public Policy Institute has created a new “affiliated faculty” program in which select faculty members will receive stipends of up to $2,500 to work with students on projects related to policy issues affecting Western North Carolina.
The Western Carolina University board of trustees unanimously approved a one-year contract extension for Dennis Wagner, who recently turned down a position at the University of Kansas to remain as the Catamounts’ head football coach.
Danny Williamson, track and field coach at WCU, was named women’s coach of the year and men’s co-coach of the year at the 2010 Southern Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships, held Feb. 25 and 26 at Clemson University.

Western Carolina University’s board of trustees approved proposed tuition and fees for 2010-11, including a 6.5 percent increase in campus-based tuition that would fund programs providing additional support to students during their freshman and sophomore years to help keep them on track to graduate.
