Philosophy professor to present Jerry Jackson Lecture on Oct. 24

Michael Shaw, professor of philosophy and coordinator of classics at Utah Valley University, will visit Western Carolina University to speak as part of the Jerry Jackson Lecture in the Humanities series.

Shaw will present “From Cosmogony to Cosmology: Birth and Death in Early Greek Thought” at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, in Room 130 of the John W. Bardo Fine and Performing Arts Center.

Shaw also will meet with WCU philosophy and religion classes during his visit, which is co-sponsored by WCU’s Department of Philosophy and Religion, Department of History, Honors College and College of Arts and Sciences.
