Western Carolina University’s School of Music will present a free concert featuring clarinet and piano with performances of 20th-century masterworks Tuesday, Sept. 26, in the recital hall of the Coulter Building on the WCU campus.
The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. and includes selections by composers including Leonard Bernstein, Robert Muczynski and Astor Piazzolla.
Playing clarinet is Shannon Thompson, a WCU music professor and member of both the Asheville and Hendersonville symphony orchestras. She has performed throughout the U.S. as a recitalist and chamber musician. Joining her on piano is Lillian Buss Pearson, a WCU music faculty member with solo orchestral appearances with the Jacksonville Symphony, Asheville Symphony, Breckenridge Festival Orchestra and Brandenburg Ensemble.
