Catamount Career and Networking Day coming up Wednesday, Oct. 4

The semiannual Catamount Career and Networking Day returns to Western Carolina University’s Ramsey Regional Activity Center from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4.

WCU’s Center for Career and Professional Development has received confirmation from more than 130 employers who are planning to attend so that they can meet WCU students to talk about full- and part-time employment, as well as internships, said Theresa Cruz Paul, center director.

The CCPD is collaborating with the university’s Center for Service Learning this year to present a “Service and Nonprofit Concourse” where students can meet with representatives of 30 nonprofit organizations to learn about volunteer and service opportunities. WCU Public Relations Student Society of America will be on hand to take free photos that can be used as head shots for LinkedIn profiles.

“There is something at the event for students of all levels and majors, so students should bring their resumes and learn about amazing opportunities with employers in our region and across the Southeast,” Cruz Paul said. “We provide shuttles from the UC to the Ramsey Center during the event.”

Prospective employers also appreciate having an opportunity to meet with WCU faculty and staff to discuss university programming and opportunities for collaboration, she said.
