Renovated Brown Hall to hold trial opening, opportunity to view new facility

The Lodge at Brown features spacious accommodations and a double-sided fireplace.

Brown Hall, Western Carolina University’s newest dining expansion, will open for a week-long trial period Monday, July 17, through Friday, July 21.

Throughout the week, The Lodge at Brown, a contemporary dining setting, will open for breakfast 7 a.m. until 9 a.m. and serve lunch from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Starbucks will be serving from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Both locations will accept meal plan tenders as well as cash, credit and debit.

Outdoors dining is an option at Brown Hall.

Brown Hall, a 56-year-old structure formerly known as Brown Cafeteria, has undergone a $22.5 million renovation and expansion. In addition to modern student dining facilities and a convenience store, there are offices for the departments of Residential Living, Campus Services and Student Community Ethics.

The expansion of food service options at Brown Hall in partnership with Aramark, WCU’s food service partner, will include a food court with up to eight service stations offering complete meals when an official opening is held at the beginning of the 2017 fall semester.
