Work on traffic signal installation underway on campus

The installation of concrete signal pole foundations has been completed at the corner of Centennial Drive and University Way on Western Carolina University’s campus as part of a N.C. Department of Transportation project to place a traffic signal at that location.

Now that the foundations have been poured, they will be allowed to “cure” for a few weeks before the next step in the project – the installation of poles, said Ernie Hudson, WCU chief of police.

Traffic flow on campus is not expected to be affected by the project again until at least late May, Hudson said.
