April 19 features Earth and Wellness Celebration, new car charging station

Western Carolina University will hold its annual Earth and Wellness Celebration on Wednesday, April 19. The free event combines the national celebration of Earth Day with recognition to health and wellness.

It will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the A.K. Hinds University Center lawn, where there will booths from the campus and community, including vendors, nonprofits and student organizations. There will be free giveaways and games.

At 10 a.m. on April 19, there will be a ribbon cutting for the addition of two car charging stations in the parking lot adjacent to the Center for Career and Professional Development at Reid Gym. One charging station will be specifically for Tesla vehicles, while the other can used with for all electrical vehicles. The stations will use solar energy to offset their electrical usage.
