Subway holding March 7 appreciation day for faculty, staff

WCU’s Subway restaurant is located in Noble Hall, the university’s new mixed-use facility.

The Subway sandwich shop located in Western Carolina University’s Noble Hall has set its WCU faculty and staff appreciation event for Tuesday, March 7.

Faculty and staff who present their Catcards between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. will receive a free 6-inch sandwich, chips, cookie and drink, said Scott Welch, who co-owns the restaurant with his wife, Shelley Welch.

The Welches operated a Subway franchise in rental space in WCU’s old commercial strip on Centennial Drive until Nov. 21, 2013, when a fire severely damaged a building that housed their restaurant and two others, Rolling Stone Burrito and the Mad Batter Bakery and Cafe. The Noble Hall multi-use building was constructed on the site and the campus Subway opened in the facility on Jan. 6.
