Western Carolina University’s Staff Senate and the Office of Sustainability and Energy Management will hold a campuswide open forum on Wednesday, Feb. 15, in the A.K. Hinds University Center’s theater to discuss the current state of sustainability, energy management and recycling at the university.
The event will be held from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. It will be followed by a panel discussion with campus experts to field questions and gather input to help guide the university’s future.
In the last 15 years, WCU has reduced its energy usage by 42 percent and saved more than $25 million in energy costs through conservation measures. In the last five years, WCU’s recycling volume has increased by 85 percent.
