Entries by Reitz published in ‘Women in American History’

Christina L. Reitz, WCU associate professor of music, has published entries on Eve Queler and Florence Price inWomen in American History: A Social, Political and Cultural Encyclopedia and Document Collection.” Both women were significant in breaking barriers in American music history, Reitz said. “Queler remains one of the most preeminent conductors of operatic music, and Price’s ‘Symphony in E minor’ was the first symphony by an African-American woman performed by a major national orchestra,” Reitz said.
