Western Carolina University’s 2016 Summer Concert Series will continue Wednesday, July 13, with a performance by the Southern Experience Band on the lawn of A.K. Hinds University Center.
The free concert will begin at 7 p.m., and those planning to attend are encouraged to bring a chair or blanket for seating.
The Southern Experience Band is a North Carolina-based southern/country rock ensemble that includes lead singer and guitarist Scott Sanders, drummer Nikao Wallace, guitarist J.T. Fitch and bass player Ron Humphries. The group has performed at numerous festivals ranging from Columbia, South Carolina, to Nashville, Tennessee, and is known for its tight four-part harmonies. The late Bob Burns, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame drummer of legendary southern rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd, once said of the Southern Experience Band: “In the true spirit of southern rock, these guys capture the down-home sound through great lyrics and awesome guitar licks…a band to keep an eye out for as they move forward.”
All the concerts in WCU’s summer series begin at 7 p.m. on Wednesdays. Upcoming shows include Mangas Colorado, July 20; and Balsam Range, July 27.
