Western Carolina University’s 2016 Summer Concert Series will continue Wednesday, July 6, as country music singer-songwriter Brent Cobb performs on the lawn of A.K. Hinds University Center.
The free concert will begin at 7 p.m., and those planning to attend are encouraged to bring a chair or blanket for seating. In case of rain, the show will move indoors to Illusions in the University Center.
A native of Ellaville, Georgia, Cobb was raised in a musical family and recorded his first CD when he was 18 years old. A prolific songwriter, he has had his music recorded by country music artists such as Luke Bryan, the Oak Ridge Boys, Little Big Town, Miranda Lambert and Kenny Chesney.
As a performer, Cobb’s style is rooted in traditional country and bluegrass. He has opened shows for Blake Shelton, Sarah Evans and many others. In March of this year, his song “Down Home” was released as part of the album “Southern Family,” which includes tracks featuring Lambert and Zac Brown.
All the concerts in WCU’s summer series begin at 7 p.m. on Wednesdays. Upcoming shows include The Southern Experience Band, July 13; Mangas Colorado, July 20; and Balsam Range, July 27.
