Asheville arts group hosting collection of student works

The Asheville Area Arts Council will host “WHEE Fresh: A Collection of Works by Local Artists from Western Carolina University’s Master of Fine Arts Program” from Thursday, March 5, to Saturday, March 14.

The exhibit showcases collaborative works curated by WCU’s lead sculpture instructor Justin Morgan Kennedy. It includes works by students Amy M. Anderson, Tonya Anderson, Mary Cozens, Paul Farmer, Kimberly Gattozzi, Jordan Krutsch, Hannah Rebecca McBride, Jenna McDonald, Kevin McNiff, Leigh Ann Parrish, Janet Richardson, Sara Rincon, Renee Roberson, Laura Sellers and Donna Sepulveda.

The artists’ works that cross disciplines of sculpture, photography, digital media, fibers, ceramics, drawing and painting will fill the gallery located in Asheville at the Grove Arcade at 1 Page Ave., Suite 143A.

The AAAC will host a public opening reception Friday, March 6, from 5 to 8 p.m. with refreshments. The exhibit can be viewed during the gallery’s normal business hours, Monday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
