Wlosok Jazz Trio to be featured Friday on WCQS

Pavel Wlosok’s jazz trio will be featured in a recorded interview and performance aired on WCQS-FM radio station beginning at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 13.

The trio will be performing five of Wlosok’s original compositions: “McCoy’s Mood,” “Storyteller,” “The ISIS Blues,” “Smile Baby Smile” and “Happy.”

Wlosok, an associate professor in jazz studies at WCU, released a new album titled “Czechmate” in Europe last December, expected to be available through downloadable media later this summer.

WCQS radio’s Dick Kowal, a WCU alumnus, recently hosted Wlosok, leading and on piano, along with Zach Page on acoustic bass and Evan Martin on drums, in the performance at the station’s studio. WCQS can be heard at 88.1 FM in Cullowhee, Waynesville, Clyde and Webster; at 91.5 FM in Sylva and Dillsboro; or streamed from the website http://www.wcqs.org.
