A workshop focusing on “Creating an Amazing Art Portfolio” will be offered in Asheville on Friday, Nov. 8, by Western Carolina University’s Office of Continuing and Professional Education.

The workshop will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at WCU’s instructional site at Biltmore Park Town Square, which is located in Suite 300 at 28 Schenck Parkway.

Artists’ portfolios are playing an increasingly important role in the college admissions process and when applying for employment. Students in the workshop will learn to refine, edit and add to their portfolios, and instructor Denise Drury, curator at WCU’s Fine Art Museum, will work with them to critique their work, refine artists’ statements, discuss potential interview questions and prepare a final checklist for portfolio submission.

The cost of the class is $75. For more information or to register, visit learn.wcu.edu and click on “Conferences and Community Classes” or call 828-227-7397.
