Earth and wellness event, film festival to be held on campus

Western Carolina University’s Energy Management office and Campus Recreation Center will host activities marking Earth Day and promoting wellness on the lawn of A.K. Hinds University Center on Wednesday, April 24, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Earth and Wellness Celebration is being held to commemorate Earth Day and sustainable actions in combination with promoting wellness as a lifelong activity. The event will feature more than 30 local vendors and campus organizations as well as wellness activities, games and giveaways. Also, a Zumba session will be held at 12:10 p.m. on the University Center lawn.

An associated event will be held Thursday, April 25, as WCU and the Western North Carolina Alliance present the Wild and Scenic Film Festival from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Illusions in the University Center. In addition to featuring a selection of 14 short films, the festival will include live music, free food and drinks, giveaways and raffle items. Several ticket options are available for the film festival.
