WCU jazz ensembles to perform May 1

Jazz ensembles of Western Carolina University will perform a concert at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, in the recital hall of the Coulter Building.

The performance is free and open to the public.

The Jazz Guitar Quintet and Jazz Piano Quintet will each play a 30-minute program consisting of jazz standards from various periods including swing, modal, cool, blues and contemporary.

Members of the Jazz Guitar Quintet are Chris Corbin, tenor sax, flute, leader; Brannden Betts, trombone; Charlie Diez, guitar; Travis Lunsford, electric bass; and Andrew King, drums. Members of the Jazz Piano Quintet are Delante Randolph, alto; Nick Johannessen, tenor; Jacob Crabtree, piano; Jamie McDonald, electric bass; and Curtis Huffman, drums. Pavel Wlosok, WCU associate professor of jazz, oversees the ensembles.
