Faculty member Johnston becomes board-certified
Cheryl Johnston, Western Carolina University associate professor of anthropology, has achieved certification from and has been awarded the status of diplomate by the American Board of Forensic Anthropology.
Diplomates are recognized for their special qualifications in forensic anthropology and for meeting the standards of the association.
The board has certified 99 people since 1977, and the WCU Forensic Anthropology Program hosts the only two certified forensic anthropologists in North Carolina.
John Williams, professor and director of WCU’s Forensic Anthropology Program and the university’s Western Carolina Human Identification Laboratory, was certified in 1995.
