Members of Western Carolina University’s offices of Public Relations and Creative Services have been honored for the quality of their work by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education.
Special Merit awards were presented in recognition of staff members’ contributions to the university’s holiday video greeting card and the Honors College’s Imagine magazine at the CASE District III conference held Feb. 17-20 in Atlanta.
The 2011 holiday greeting card was a winner in the category “Electronic/Digital – Video for Internal or External Use – Marketing/Branding.” Staff members from public relations and creative services who led the project were Joseph Hader, videographer; Laura Huff, director of eMarketing; Zack Keys, graphic and Web designer; Rubae Schoen, director of creative services; and Bill Studenc, senior director of news services. They were joined in leading the project by Paige Herman, developer in WCU’s Web services office.
The award for Imagine magazine was in the category “Graphic Design – Design for Print and Digital – Periodicals.” Keys, a member of the Creative Services staff, was honored for his work in redesigning and rebranding the 2012 issue of the magazine, which contains student essays focusing on exemplary Honors College students.
