Numerous computer systems on the Western Carolina University campus will be operating sporadically or will be unavailable Thursday, Dec. 27, and Friday, Dec. 28, as WCU’s Division of Information Technology conducts annual maintenance.

Outages can be expected as the work takes place from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. both days, said Craig Fowler, WCU’s chief information officer.

The work will affect the availability of all critical and noncritical systems located in the data center, including faculty and staff email, Banner, My Cat, access to Blackboard and other systems, Fowler said. “Also, various web content from wcu.edu will be affected as that equipment is upgraded during this time for improved user performance,” he said.

For more information about the outages, contact the IT Division Help Desk at 828-227-7487 or ithelp@wcu.edu.
