The Western Carolina University College Democrats will host a performance of the one-woman show “Go Granny Go” at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, in the Mountain Heritage Center auditorium, with light refreshments beginning at 6 p.m. in the lobby.
“Go Granny Go” is the story of Doris “Granny D” Haddock and her walk from California to Washington, D.C., to “set ‘em straight.” Barbara Bates Smith will play the role of Granny D, and Jeff Sebens will be her accompanying musician.
After the performance, several candidates for local and state political office will be on hand for a meet-and-greet.
General admission tickets will be available at the door for $15, with a cost of $5 for student tickets. Proceeds will be used to help pay for a campus “get out the vote” effort, including transportation to the polls for all students, regardless of political affiliation.
