Western Carolina University’s Office of Continuing Education will offer its final children’s swim programs of the summer on weekdays beginning Monday, July 30, and continuing through Friday, Aug. 10.

Swim classes for children at the “Minnows” level (ages 6 months to 3 years) will be held from 5:15 to 6:05 p.m. each day. Classes for children at the “Fish” level (ages 3 to 5 years) will be held from 6:10 to 7 p.m.

The cost is $44 per child. All classes will be held in the Reid Gymnasium pool on WCU’s campus. An adult must be in the pool with the child at all times.

The instructor for the classes is Michael Creason, a retired faculty member from WCU’s Department of Health, Physical Education and Recreation. Creason is certified by the American Red Cross to teach swimming for infants and children, and he has been a swimming instructor for 33 years. Parents and guardians with questions about the appropriate class level for their children should contact Creason at 828-293-5364.
