The StereoFidelics, the duo of Chris Padgett and Melissa McGinley, will perform Thursday, June 14, at WCU.

The StereoFidelics, a high-energy indie-funk-shred-rock duo out of Asheville, will play at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 14, on the lawn of the A.K. Hinds University Center on the campus of Western Carolina University.

Often referred to as a funkier, more soulful version of the White Stripes, the duo consists of Chris Padgett on electric guitar, acoustic guitar, foot-operated synth-bass and vocals, and Melissa McGinley on electric violin, drums and vocals. Their recent studio release, “You Are Having a Wonderful Time,” received solid airplay on college and community radio stations coast-to-coast.

According to the StereoFidelics website, Padgett and McGinley are known for “incredible live shows, virtuosity, live multi-instrumentation, good looks and a rigorous touring schedule.”

The concert is free and the audience is invited to bring blankets, chairs and snacks. Rain location is inside the University Center.

The show is part of the 2012 Summer Concert Series presented by WCU’s Arts and Cultural Events. For more information, contact Lori Davis, assistant director for campus activities, at 828-227-3622 or ledavis@wcu.edu.
