Online course to address wilderness survival

An online course that addresses topics related to surviving accidents and dangerous encounters in the wilderness will be offered beginning Friday, June 1, by Western Carolina University’s Office of Continuing Education.

The 10-hour course “Wilderness and Disaster Emergencies” will cover topics such as animal dangers, environmental dangers, natural and man-made disasters, and other miscellaneous survival information.

The course is designed to benefit volunteer emergency service personnel, hiking clubs, scouting groups and anyone else who spends time in the woods. One continuing education unit is available.

Course writer/instructor David E. Bradley has more than 20 years of experience teaching survival and physical training subjects to civilian and military groups.
