24 students inducted into English honor society
Twenty-four Western Carolina University students recently were inducted into Theta Sigma chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, an international English honor society.
Sigma Tau Delta recognizes outstanding students with a major or minor in English who have a grade-point average of 3.0 or higher in their English courses and who rank in the top 35 percent of their classes.
North Carolina students inducted from WCU were:
- Albemarle – Lauren Harris
- Angier – Angela Langdon
- Asheville – Jason Hertz, Kathryn Mackay, Joy Neaves and Krystal Smith
- Candler – Jordan Monroe and Heather Williams
- Canton – Callie Warren
- Cullowhee – Bobby Willover
- Franklin – Jason Pruett
- Glen Alpine – Lisa Burgess
- Nashville – Amy Williams
- Raleigh – Danielle Senter
- Robbinsville – Amanda Aldridge and Amanda Collins
- Sylva – Josephine Javens and Emily Stearns
- Traphill – Kimberly Waddell
- Waynesville – Whitney Fisher and Christopher Rollins
- Wilkesboro – Robyn Pickering
Students from outside of North Carolina inducted into the society were:
- Jackson, N.J. – Kayla Beauduy
- Lake City, Fla. – Ashley Kraus
Nicole Jarosinski, honor society chapter president, led the ceremony, which was held on the WCU campus. Brian Gastle, WCU English department head, addressed the students and presented certificates and pins, and Bill Spencer, visiting assistant professor and the chapter’s faculty sponsor, bestowed honor cords.
