Western Carolina University’s College of Business and Graduate School will hold their annual accounting “Meet the Firms Night” from 6 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 23, in the Owen Conference Center on the University of North Carolina at Asheville campus.

The event is a cooperative effort between businesses and educational institutions in Western North Carolina and the upstate of South Carolina to enlighten prospective accounting professionals about career opportunities in the field of accounting.  Professionals in public accounting, banking, corporate accounting, internal auditing, and government will be available to speak with students.

“Even in this economy, the local market for accountants remains fairly strong,” said Susan Swanger, director of WCU’s master’s degree program in accountancy. “This event is only possible through the support of alumni and others who are willing to volunteer their time to reach out to students.”

Financial support is provided by Asheville-based Johnson Price & Sprinkle and Gould Killian CPA, and regional organizations Drake Enterprises, Dixon Hughes PLLC and Moore Stephens Tiller.

The event is open to anyone interested in pursuing an accounting career.

For more information, contact Swanger at 828-227-3525 or Patsy Miller, director of WCU Programs in Asheville, at 828-251-6642.
