Flute Ensemble, Clarinet Choir to perform Dec. 2

The School of Music at Western Carolina University will present an evening of music featuring the Flute Ensemble and Clarinet Choir at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2.

The two performing groups are composed primarily of music majors at WCU who will be performing on flutes and clarinets of different shapes and sizes.

The program includes a variety of transcribed classical music by well-known composers such as Mozart, Handel and Debussy, as well as original music, both classical and light, by more contemporary composers.

The free concert will be held in the recital hall of the Coulter Building at WCU.

Graduate student Judith Gilbert coaches the flute ensemble, and the clarinet choir is directed by WCU music faculty member Shannon Thompson. Senior music major Nick Gattis will conduct one of the pieces.
