Western Carolina University’s Public Policy Institute will host an essay contest and forum in honor of the anniversary of the Sept. 17, 1787, signing of the U.S. Constitution.
WCU undergraduate students are invited to submit essays up to 750 words on the topic “Is access to health care guaranteed by the ideals set forth by the constitution? Why or why not?” Entries should be typed and double-spaced, and sent as an e-mail attachment to email@example.com by 5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 14. Cash prizes will be awarded for first-, second- and third-place of $100, $75 and $50, respectively.
A forum on the same topic will be held in the Multipurpose Room B at A.K. Hinds University Center at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17. Participants will include political science and health science faculty members as well as representatives from campus Democrat, Republican and pre-law organizations. In addition, essay contest winners will be announced at the forum, which is free and open to the public.
