Western Carolina University will host the University of North Carolina Board of Governors on the Cullowhee campus Wednesday, Oct. 15, through Friday, Oct. 17. UNC President Erskine Bowles, members of the board, chancellors of the other constituent institutions and some members of the UNC system administrative staff will be here for meetings in the A.K. Hinds University Center.
During the three-day visit, the Coulter Building parking lot and faculty/staff parking spaces across from Scott Hall will be reserved. Parking on Joyner Drive and some parking at Madison Hall also will be reserved. Chartered buses will be on campus to transport guests to various locations, including the N.C. Center for the Advancement of Teaching and the Ramsey Regional Activity Center for a special performance by the Pride of the Mountains Marching Band.
Board meetings are open to the public unless there are items to be discussed in closed session, as provided by law. The UNC Board of Governors is the policy-making body of the UNC system.
The dedication of the Campus Recreation Center will be a part of the Board of Governors’ agenda. The entire campus community is invited to attend the official dedication ceremony at 9 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 17. The event is scheduled to take place at the climbing wall inside the center.
