Western Carolina University’s College of Business is ready to unveil its new Graduate Certificate Program in Project Management, which will be available beginning this fall both fully online and through a combination of online work and regular class meetings in Asheville.
An information session for the certificate program, plus all the other WCU programs offered in Asheville, will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, in Karpen Hall on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Asheville. Fall classes will begin Monday, Aug. 20.
Four new project management courses will be offered through the certificate program, and students who successfully complete all four courses will receive the certificate. Two courses, “Introduction to Professional Project Management” and “Life Cycle of Successful Projects,” will be available this fall, with “Project Teams: Tools and Techniques for Global Collaboration” and “The Art and Science of Project Planning” slated for the spring semester.
Each course will cover an eight-week period, and students who choose the “hybrid” option – a combination of online work and classroom meetings – will attend four classes held in Asheville on Saturdays. All four courses are designed as electives for students interested in learning about the profession of project management and the contributions project managers make in leading teams in accomplishing objectives.
To be admitted to the program, students must have earned a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution, complete a graduate application and submit a $40 processing fee. Current WCU graduate students may register for the courses as electives.
