WCU to offer Art Day

Western Carolina University will offer “Learning For Fun: Saturday is Art Day” from 9 a.m. to noon, Jan. 27 and Feb. 3, in Room 150 of the Fine and Performing Arts Center.

The classes are open to children in grade three and above, as well as interested adults.

“This class will be great fun for all ages,” said Susan Fouts, director of continuing education at WCU.  “The guided activity helps to turn thoughts into visual images.”

The Jan. 27 class will make hemp jewelry using half-square and square knots, and wooden and glass beads.

On Feb. 3, participants will make an assortment of personalized Valentine cards. Kristen Harrison and Julie Breckenridge, art education majors at WCU, will conduct the classes.

Cost of each class is $25 for non-WCU students and $10 for WCU students. Pre-registration is required. The program is offered by WCU’s Division of Educational Outreach, Art Department and Art Club.
