The Western Carolina University Inspirational Choir’s performance Sunday, Oct. 15, will feature the song “Your Majesty” from Bishop T.D. Jakes’ worship seminar, “Woman, Thou Art Loosed.”
“The Beauty of Holiness” concert, which is free and open to the public, begins at 3:30 p.m. Sunday in the University Center Grandroom and will conclude WCU’s 2006 Homecoming weekend. The program includes six traditional and contemporary gospel selections with additional pieces from guest performers.
The emcee will be Daryl W. Fields, a Western alumnus currently in graduate school at North Carolina A&T State University.
“The performance Homecoming weekend is meaningful to current and former students because it brings to a close all of the events of Homecoming, as well as giving former members the opportunity to share memories of their experiences with the choir and create new memories for the current members,” said Ronda Bryant, director of enrollment support and choir adviser. “For many students, participation in the choir can be a reprieve from the stresses of class assignments and provide them an opportunity to bond with other students.”
The choir was formed in 1973 to promote unity among all students at Western through singing traditional and contemporary gospel music.
